It has been FOREVER...

I cannot believe how time flies. I cannot believe it has been so long since I have posted. Ugh. If you’re still reading this, thank you!

So, I guess the first matter of discussion, is Miss America. Wow! What a show! Our state’s delegate made the cut for the first time in a very LONG time, and I am so incredibly proud of her! When she was called, I was screaming up and down! It was such an exciting night! The Top 15 was a little crazy, I only got a few of the choices correct, but the ones I did made it pretty far – including California and Virginia (1st Runner Up and Miss America, respectively), as well as Kentucky, Tennessee and New Mexico. Like many people, I was kind of surprised that Puerto Rico didn’t make it since she was absolutely stunning, but being pretty does not win you Miss America.

By only using photos, I think I did pretty good. Miss America is hard to call without seeing talent or interview (Note to the Miss America Organization: WEBCAST THESE NEXT YEAR! I’LL PAY GOOD MONEY TO SEE THEM IF NECESSARY). Miss USA is a lot easier to select finalists from photos since much of the pageant is related to facial beauty.

Anyway, Miss America rocked. I loved the show and everything about it. And I am thrilled with our new Miss America, Caressa Cameron from Virginia.

Now that’s out of the way, it’s time to raise the roof for losing my first 10 pounds on Weight Watchers!!! Wahoo! I stepped on the scale Sunday to weigh in and almost fell over! I am about 1 pound away from my first goal, so that is really exciting! Weight Watchers has really helped me focus on this process one week at a time, and I couldn’t believe that I’ve been working on this for four weeks already!

I’m starting to fit into what I affectionately call my “pre-fat” clothes. After these six more weeks of winter, which I desperately need, I think I’ll be able to enjoy some festive spring attire… new or old! I am actually planning on hosting a party this year for the Kentucky Derby for my sorority sisters (K to the A to the P-P-A), so I’d like to be in great shape for that first weekend in May. All in all, I still have about 25 pounds to lose… maybe a little more…. we’ll see, but I’m confident I’ll get there soon.

Outside of the weight loss, I am starting to feel more like myself, and more healthy. I am so much more aware of what I’m eating, and Mr. Beauty Queen and I have made huge improvements to our diets as a result of this adventure, and we’re hoping to celebrate our hot new bods later this fall when we get photos for our 5 year anniversary. We weren’t totally sold on our wedding pictures, so we’re really excited about something that really captures us. It’s a great goal to focus on.

Of course, the other goal is to have a healthy body so that I can have a healthy pregnancy when the time comes. Last week, our family celebrated the birth of my new nephew Ashton. He is precious! Anyway, I went to the hospital a few hours after he was born, and held the little guy for at least a half hour! I just couldn’t let him go. There is something about holding a newborn that really makes you want to be a better person, and strive for the best. It gave me a taste of something I am really looking forward to someday, and that really helped me keep my focus last week.

Now that I’m moving toward this goal, I still have pageants in the back of my mind. I am thrilled that our state is now going to have a Mrs. United States preliminary too now, so I think that when I’m ready to get back in the game, there will be an opportunity to do so. I know there’s another state crown in store for me soon. 

As for the Snuggie Pageant, it’s still on! More information will be posted soon, but obviously, I am going to push the deadline back, so I can get a great prize package assembled. If you’re a business owner and want to sponsor a prize, let me know and we can work out an advertising agreement. Get excited though, cause there is more time to take a photo of you in your Snuggie, and, if necessary, purchase a Snuggie!!!

And, I do, apologize again for not keeping up with this blog like I have hoped. Finding time with work, and school and running a pageant consulting business (I didn’t tell you about that – did I?) is CRAZY. So, I am just thrilled that I am able to fit exercise in right now. But it’s all about getting into a routine!

P.S. I really do want world peace.
